Terms and Conditions

1. All hirer/drivers must be over the age of 25 and have a valid UK Driving licence. A maximum number of 3 penalty points are allowed on the licence. In excess of this amount may result in either there being additional payment required or it may result in us being unable to offer insurance cover.
2. Driving licences must be produced when the caravan is collected together with some form of photographic identification. The modern photo-card licence is acceptable but if this has not been issued then we would suggest a UK passport.
3. The deposit is payable on reservation and the hire charge payable 28 days prior to the beginning of the hire. Deposits are refundable provided the caravan is returned clean and undamaged. Failure to return the caravan on time without prior agreement could also result in forfeiting the deposit.
4. All refunds will be issued after inspecting and cleaning the caravan and processed within 7 days of the return/collection of the caravan.
5. The period of hire will be from 11.00am on the day of collection and returned by 3pm on the last day of hire. Variation from these times may be possible on request but must be confirmed in writing by Herald Caravans Limited and the hirer cannot assume the variation has been agreed unless it has been confirmed in writing.
6. In the event of an accident the Hirer should report this immediately to Herald Caravans Limited and an Accident Report form must be completed by the Hirer. In the event of a third party being involved then details should be taken from this person as you would normally.
7. The Hirer must not allow the caravan to be towed or used by any person not listed as an authorised driver on the Herald booking form.
8. We reserve the right to vary our prices and conditions and to cancel and refuse to hire to any person without explanation.
9. We reserve the right to replace or substitute or even cancel a hire in the event of us being unable to supply due to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances such as an accident or vehicle being returned late.
10. In the event of the Hirer cancelling the booking the Hirer will forfeit the deposit and also the hire charges if they have already been paid.
11. The Hitch-lock and Wheel-clamp must be fitted when the caravan is on site and the Hitch-lock fitted when stationary with the car attached to the caravan e.g. at a service station.
12. It is the Hirer's responsibility to insure that the tow vehicle is suitable for the caravan. We reserve the right to cancel the hire if the tow car is not compatible.
13. If a chemical toilet is fitted to a caravan then it should be returned empty and clean. Failure to do so will result in the retention of your deposit.
14. From 1st July 2007 it is an offence for the hirer to smoke or to allow smoking to take place in any of our hire vehicles. Herald Caravans has a responsibility to ensure that all vehicles remain free from smoke. Should a vehicle be returned that has been smoked in then the entire Security Deposit will be retained and further fines and prosecution may occur.
